[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Product Description:

This flexible silicone-based acrylic wall coating is used for decorative covering of exterior and interior walls in private and public buildings; it gives walls a warm and natural appearance; it is highly resistant to damage caused by extreme weather conditions; it seals the building to prevent water from penetrating but also “breathes” (is permeable to water vapor); it conceals spider cracks up to 2mm, and other visible defects.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=”]Properties:

  • Tensile and flexible (conceals spider cracks)
  • Dry to touch in approximately 4 hours, and 72 hours for a full cure
  • Can be overcoated with ordinary paint in future
  • Water repellent and washable yet water-vapour transmissible
  • Reinforced, durable and abrasion resistant
  • High adhesion and grip
  • No flaking or crumbling
  • Mildew and fungus resistant
  • Water based coating
  • Not flammable
  • 10 year warranty (Terms & Conditions apply)
  • silicone based[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Typical Uses:

For newly plastered walls, new and old painted walls, over smooth concrete surfaces, concrete slabs, dry wall, magnesium oxide board* or any other wall finish, provided proper preparation had been done.

*Some variaties of magnesium oxide board include a surface layer of chalk that assists painting. Regaia will only adhere to the board itself, free of chalk.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Surface Preparation:

Particles and dust should be brushed off the plaster surface with a street broom. You can also wash the wall with water but then it must normally be left to dry for 24-48 hours depending on weather conditions (or as long as required). Remove old paint flakes and any protrusions such as nails or wire. Ensure that the wall is sealed so that no water, either from rain or ground leakage, can penetrate. Only once the wall is cleaned and smoothed-over is it ready for plaster application.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=”]Application:

Put on one coat of suitable primer as recommended by a qualified artisan. Wait for at least 6 hours for the primer to thoroughly dry. Apply a coat of flexible plaster uniformally using a metal trowel, and then scrape in circular motions (or any desired pattern) with a plastic trowel until the desired pattern/texture is obtained.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Clean-Up: clean the tools with water and soap immediately after use.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Colour Shades: up to 1500 colours with the Regaia colour shades catalog.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=”]Contains: silicone and acrylic mixture aggregate.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Dilution: ready for use, can dilute with 7% water (roughly 1 litre per bucket).[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Density:

  • 1.43 gr/cm3 for M0, M100, M200, M300.
  • 1.51 gr/cm3 for M30.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=”]Packaging:

  • 26Kg for M30;
  • 24Kg for M100,M200,M300.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Shelf-life & Storage:

12 months in an original closed bucket in a cool, dry place.[/color-box]

  • M0 Super Smooth (smooth as paint)
  • M30 Smooth
  • M100 Classic
  • M200 Rough
  • M300 Gravel Rough[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Coverage:

  • M0 Super Smooth as paint, covers +-20m2 in 2 coats per bucket
  • M30 Smooth, covers +-26m2 in 1 coat per bucket, 2 coats recommended for exterior
  • M100 Classic, covers +-15m2 in 1 coat per bucket
  • M200 Rough, covers +-10m2 in 1 coat per bucket
  • M300 Gravel Rough, covers +-8m2 in 1 coat per bucket

The amount of product required to fully coat your wall is based on the work rate of a skilled labourer on an infrastructure with an ordinary degree of absorption and may vary according to the working method, surface roughness and weather conditions.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Emphasis on the plastering process:

When applying and patterning the plaster, it must be determined beforehand how fast the plaster will dry, as over-coating once the plaster has dried is not advised. This will vary according to:

  • The moistness of the material used
  • How moist/wet the surface is to be plastered
  • The environmental humidity and wind.
  • Ambient temperature (and direct sunlight)

The texture of the material to be used is also important.
The finer the quartz sand, the faster the plaster will dry.
M30 would dry faster than M300.

So for example, on a hot humid day if one were applying M30, the wall could be moistened beforehand, a little water mixed into the bucket of plaster itself, and then the applying process speeded up so as to avoid partial drying whilst applying. The more laborers the faster it will go.

Applying the plaster consists of two phases, first applying it evenly, and then texturizing it by scraping with a plastic or wooden trowel in the desired pattern.

Excessive scraping in the same spot might result in a smooth area. Try to spread the granules in the plaster evenly while patterning by not overdoing it.

Uneven applications or mistakes in patterning cannot be rectified once the plaster is dry. And it should not be over coated once dry as the exact same colour cannot be maintained. If mistakes do occur, it can be patched but then the entire wall must be painted to keep the colour uniform.

As long as you work fast enough so that the plaster remains moist enough, any alterations can be made in confidence.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=”]Magnesium oxide and fiber cement boards:

Rabbet-joint (*see glossary page) are essential between boards. This is because joints are the primary area of expansion and contraction with this type of building material. The rabbet joint and the thicker plaster in it provide ample flexibility thereby eliminating cracks.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Direct Sun:

Do not apply Regaia plaster when the walls are in direct sun as applying on hot walls creates steam underneath the plaster that cannot be released. This will cause bubbles to appear.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Chalk Residue:

The production process of these boards leaves a significant chalk residue on the board. This chalk prevents primer and plaster from adhering to the board. It must be removed before applying Regaia.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Limitations:

Do not apply the material when the temperature is below 7°C. Do not apply if rain is to be expected within 72 hours.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Dry-time: From between 10 minutes to 4 hours, depending on texture and ambient temperature.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=” ]Finish: Mat.[/color-box]

[color-box color=” customcolorpicker=”]Health and Safety Precautions:

This material does not contain lead. During application it is advisable to wear goggles and ensure that the site is adequately ventilated. If the plaster comes in contact with the eyes, rinse well under running water and seek medical assistance. Keep the package tightly closed. Do not hang on the handle. Keep away from children. Do not mix with materials not recommended by Regaia.[/color-box]
